You’ll find it to be both a peaceful rural retreat and the perfect base from which to explore Northumberland’s countryside and 40-mile heritage coastline, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With the nearest beach only a 15-minute drive away, it’ll be easy as can be to spend the day by sea. Alternatively, make a beeline for Bamburgh – think sand dunes, snug eateries and legendary coastal fortress – or the historic market town of Alnwick, with its magnificent castle and gardens. On the way home be sure to stop off for beer battered haddock and hand-cut chips at The Pack Horse Inn, a popular pub offering locally sourced food and drinks. At the day’s end gather together on the sofas in the living room. Grab a bottle of wine and light the wood burning stove before putting your feet up, play at cards or settling in for movie night. You won’t regret it.
