If you're after the sort of getaway during which you turn off your phone and cut yourself from civilisation — or work emails, at least — for a week or two of blissful isolation, we thoroughly recommend this home on the Isle of Skye.

You're sure to feel your worries disappear as you tuck into a hearty supper on the dining table blessed with beautiful views of the sea and the Scottish countryside, or while snuggled up on the sofa as the wood-burner stove crackles in the background. Despite the rather rustic location, the home's design is surprisingly contemporary, particularly the open-concept living area, the subway-tiled bathrooms and the minimalist white kitchen with a wealth of surface space.

When it comes to filling up the itinerary, you can fill days by wandering around the lochs, cliffs and Dunscaith Castle that lies nearby. The nearest large town — relatively speaking, of course — is Broadford, thirty-five minutes' drive away. Here, you'll find a handful of shops, cafes and restaurants.
