Upon arrival the owner of the cottage Hazel had left a welcome pack consisting of some juice, cheese and oatcakes, Tunnocks teacakes. Small gesture but a nice touch. The cottage is very spacious and nicely furnished, very comfortable. There is freeview TV and wifi - albeit a little sketchy, our firestick didnt work due to this. There are a selection of kids games and some books etc. There is a wood burning stove and enough kindling, fire starters provided to get you going for a few days if required - across from the cottage there is a log store with plenty of chopped wood. Reasonable sized fridge, 4 zone hob, grill / oven, dish washer and a washing machine in the cottage. Beds are new and comfy. Adult room doesnt have a wardrobe, only drawers. The kids room has drawers and tons of wardrobe space. Shower is good and ample warm water. The surrounding area is a haven for wildlife - there are scores of wild bird species and 3 barn owls in the immediate vicinity which we saw regularly. The woods across the road have an elusive Capercaillie. I continually heard a calling Golden eagle and eventually saw it right outside the cottage and couldnt get my phone out quick enough to get the photo!!!! There are sheep and cattle in many of the surrounding fields so adviseable to keep dogs on leads until you turn corners and have line of sight. The surrounding area is a heavenly place for dogs as there a thousands of wild rabbits and game birds to chase, our Labrador had a great time chasing them without any fatalities thankfully. Nearest shops are 10 miles away in Kirriemuir - there is a large Co-op which will have all you need and also a smaller Spar. One piece of advice is to keep the cottage gate closed as there are 4 sheep which have free run of the farm and when we arrived the garden had lots of sheep droppings, there are also some rabbit burrows in the garden which can we hard to see so be mindful of this to prevent accidents. This cottage is an ideal place to base yourselves as you are right on the doorstep of some phenominal walks within a short drive. I would stay here again no probs.

Beautiful cottage and surrounding area, lovely furnishings and lovely welcome basket.. We had a great time exploring area and the weather was perfect. Fenced in garden which was great to let the dog wander round without worrying about escaping. Everything we needed here and kids loved playing hide and seek.

Could not have had a better time! ! Hazel and Rory were an absolute joy to deal with and were very helpful! The cottage is as the pictures suggest and then some!! The kids loved exploring it when we turned up as it’s quite the Tardis!! The local landscape is breathtaking and there are discoveries to be made each day, the river to the rear of the property was quite the hit with my children who had a great time wading in it. We were very sad to leave and will most definitely be booking again!

Lovely comfortable cottage.. Furnishings were modern and it had everything you required. Could not fault it. It was a credit to the owner who had done such a lot of work to it in such a short time. The owner was very helpful and friendly. The location was ideal, peaceful and in a beautiful setting. Would certainly use again.

We had a fabulous stay at White hillocks cottage.. Facilities in the cottage were great and the bed was lovely and comfortable. The garden is well fenced and safe for the dogs and we found some fabulous woodland walks in the area away from livestock. Kirriemuir is a lovely town with adequate facilities and a great path network which we used on numerous occasions. Cortachy has a fantastic riverside walk and Glen Doll worth a visit for spectacular views. We enjoyed seeing plenty of wildlife with the cheeky red squirrels and pheasants and grouse regular visitors to the garden. All in all a very relaxing stay in a beautiful area.

Oh my goodness.. Where do I start. White Hillocks Cottage was lovely. It was just as we hoped. It was perfectly decorated and furnished. Bedding and towels supplied were luxurious. There was plenty of wood for the fire which was great. There was a welcome box which was lovely and even treats for the dogs. There were supplies of most things in the cupboard and a bottle of fresh milk too. It is such a rural location, surrounded by wildlife, cattle and game. Its about 6 miles down to Glen Clova and hills to climb to Corrie Fee. Its about 8 or 9 miles to Kirriemuir which is a sweet little town. Scotland completely captivated us and we will be back to White Hillocks.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cottage, loved being where we were and were exceptionally lucky with the weather.. Only two slight issues. No outside seating areas and no washing line available at this property. The welcome basket was very welcome and most generous. We loved our stay.

Very quiet and peaceful.. Very large property though there were only 2 of us with 2 small dogs. Bathroom was huge and the shower was very powerful - really liked this. Beautifully furnished with quality oak furniture. Bed very comfortable. Wood burner in the lounge but unfortunately the weather was warm and we did not have the opportunity to try it. Kitchen and utility room were well-appointed. Large dining room. .Scenery was fabulous and there was plenty to see in the area.

A wonderful week in white hillocks cottage. Easy access to cottage, welcome pack which included lots of local Scottish goodies and some for the dog. Parking is ample inside a large enclosed garden. Plenty of essentials such as loo roll, tea, sugar, washing up liquid, bin liners, cloths and utensils which made life easier. Very clean, cosy and modern cottage. Super soft bed with all linen provided. Great WiFi but we took our laptop for playing dvds as no DVD player. Sky is available. Brilliant wood fire with a supply of wood, firelighters, matches etc......rather nice to come back to after a day out exploring. Brilliant location for exploring, Kirriemuir is the local village and has a co op, butchers for supplies. We loved our stay and will certainly return.
