This newly refurbished Victorian terrace makes an excellent base from which to explore Cardiff on foot. Set in the buzzy suburb of Roath, there's a clutch of cafes and pubs just around the corner to grab a coffee. Then amble over to the vast green spaces and lake of Roath Park (500 metres) or head further into the city's centre (just a 1600-metre lazy stroll away). Back home, with only one bathroom to speak of, expect some waiting around when it's time to get up and at 'em. Although, what's the rush with that classic Chesterfield sofa to curl up on with a morning coffee and the papers?
