In the mornings, enjoy leisurely breakfasts at the family-style table in the garden as you plan your hiking routes. Hethas Hike, Ring Chesters Round, Four Forts Foray and the River and Ramparts Ramble await you – you might get lucky and sight wild goat, deer, red grouse and peregrine. When you return home, head to the living room where a wood-burning fire will make you nice and toasty – sink into the sofa and turn pages of your new read, interrupted only by the crackle of the fire. The farmhouse-style kitchen is perfect for preparing hearty home-cooked meals after a long day biking, fishing or horseriding. This area is known for its stargazing, garnering a Dark Sky Park award – wrap up and head out to the patio for a glass of red wine and watch the moon illuminate the rugged peaks.

It's easy to spend all day wandering the moors around the home, but if you’re seeking sand, Cocklawburn Beach and its stunning coastline are within driving distance.
