The Provost's Quarters Self-Catering
Built in 1865, this Georgian style home was designed by famous architect Alexander Ross, who also designed Inverness Cathedral during the same period. One of the first occupants of the house was the Provost of Inverness James Robertson, whose portrait can be found hanging in Inverness Townhouse. Combining classic design with modern comforts, this home boasts a fabulous blend of dark wooden antique pieces alongside contemporary furnishings to create a homely space.
Original features include high ceilings and typically Georgian style grid windows. We particularly love the green marble fireplace in the living room which presents a cosy centrepiece to gather around, following a country walk around the Highlands. This first-floor apartment offers guests a peaceful wooded location – perfect for reconnecting with nature, yet close enough to the city's amenities which will allow you to enjoy the convenience and the highlights of Inverness with ease.
Stroll just fifteen minutes into the city centre, you'll find sights such as Inverness Castle located just 1.3 kilometres away as well as the impressive Inverness Museum and Art Gallery – reachable in just 1.5 kilometres. Not to mention the city's shops, restaurants, bars and handy Tesco supermarket (only a fifteen-minute walk away).
Home truths: *A car is recommended when staying in the Highlands, however, this is not a necessity – taxis operate twenty-four hours of the day and there is a bus and train station in Inverness with routes heading in all directions of the city
*There is enough space at the dining room table to set up a laptop if you need to work from home
*There's free private parking on the premises for one car as well as free street parking
*There is a shared entrance to the building through the main foyer/corridor
*A starter pack of supplies (left by the host) includes toilet rolls, complimentary sachets of coffee, sugar, teabags
*The nearest airport is Inverness Airport, 15 kilometres from the home
