We have just had a wonderful week at Slater’s cottage.. The welcome pack, fresh flowers, space and comfort of the cottage were second to none. The area itself is beautiful and unspoilt and, despite it being February, we had wonderful sunny weather then cosy nights it by the wood burning stove. A memorable holiday - so much so we are hoping to book again for next year!

The cottage was very nice indeed and had every we needed.. When we arrived there was a nice little welcome basket along with bread milk and butter in the fridge. If there was one thing I would like to bring to your attention is the fact that there is no phone reception you have to go up the road to get any reception. We felt like there could have been perhaps an out going phone (payable) for emergencies. This is typical to this area and not just this cottage we know as we have been coming here for 17 years! There were medical G.P and health centre telephone numbers which unfortunately we had to access this year due to husband taking very unwell. Myself son-in-law had to drive us 5 miles to Health Centre as this was quicker than trying for a reception. All of us enjoyed our stay and we hope to return next year.

We had a week in this fantastic house. The highlight for sure was dolphin spotting from the shore at bow fiddle rock. The house was spotless and had everything you could need and more. A great location for exploring the area. Great wee chippy and cafe just around the corner. Good base for coastal walks with stunning views and sunsets. Great beaches and play areas to let the kids run wild close by too. Would definitely recommend Slater's. We did suggest the water was too hot and possibly risky for kids but the owner as contacted me to say this has been remedied. All in all a perfect wee escape

Lovely Cottage with almost everything you could need - Portknockie is a quiet town with friendly locals.. The cottage is very well equipped but since my husband is 80 I would have appreciated a non-slip shower mat in the shower since he found it slippy. Also the sofas are so soft you really struggle to get out of them - this included my daughter and her husband who have no physical problems. Apart from the above which seems really negative (but just pointers really for perfection) - the cottage is beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean with a very generous welcome pack including tassimo coffee machine and pods. We had a lovely week, thank you.

Slaters is the perfect place to stay to explore this part of the world. Portknockie is a hidden gem, with great places to eat in the village as well as nearby in Cullen and Buckie. Don't miss fish and chips and Cullen Skink. The kids enjoyed fishing in the harbor and rock pooling on the way to the Links. We all had a great time exploring the coast, seeing dolphins and seals along the way. The cottage has kept its traditional feel and it has everything a family could need in its very well-equipped kitchen. The welcome pack was much appreciated after a long trip from the U.S. We would definitely stay again.

Having stayed in money cottages along the Moray coast, this was the best. It had a cosy feeling with the wood burner and good central heating, and yet had plenty of space for the 5 of us who stayed, and other visitors we entertained during our stay. A perfect place to re-charge after a busy summer and autumn so maybe back again.

We have just spent a week in Slater's cottage. 7 adults and 1 baby. It was a wonderful uplifting spacious cottage, beautifully decorated with very thoughtful sayings hung on the walls. Everyone loved the beds which are so comfy and the welcome pack was delicious and the fresh flowers were a beautiful touch, like coming home. It is an ideal place to stay with a few minutes walk to the beach/harbour, fish and chip shop almost at our doorstep. We had a great week and sunshine every day which was super for my sister's daughter's wedding, kilts and all. We had lots to explore on Cullen Beach and enjoy visiting the Ice cream shop and visiting the nearby towns. It was an amazing holiday and would definitely return to Slaters. Thank you

We have just spent a week in this cottage. 6 adults, 1 child and a baby. It was amazing. Accommodating for everyone. It is beautifully decorated, beds are so comfy and the welcome pack was delicious. Only a few minutes walk to the beach/harbour, fish and chip shop and welcoming pub. We had a full week of exploring, rock climbing, swimming and visiting the nearby towns. Was an amazing holiday and would definitely return to Slaters. Thank you

We had a wonderful time in Portknockie and found Mark and Ruth so helpful and considerate.. They went to great lengths to make sure they put everything in place for our grandson, travel cot, bath, high chair, stair gates (upstairs and downstairs), and a fire guard as well, so amazing and thoughtful. There was a beautiful vase of fresh flowers and a welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived. The cottage had such wonderful words of wisdom all about, which helped us to ponder and think more about relaxing and having fun and just taking time to chill out and enjoy every moment. We are so grateful for their kindness and sharing their cottage which was only a few streets away from my sister and her family, as we were there for my niece's wedding. Thank you so much for everything Mark and Ruth. So wonderful to meet you both and enjoy your cottage in a wonderful part of the world. Take good care and we hope to return again Very best wishes Joan and Donal Murphyt

The accommodation was very comfortable, you could see, that the owner wants to make his guests at home from the first minute.. Very well equipped, very clean, interior design with style. Meets high standards, apart from the very nice village of Portknockie and its great fish and chips shop.

This really is the best holiday cottage we have stayed in! It was cosy, comfortable and in an ideal situation. Lovely walks in the evening down to the harbour...and to great fish and chip shop! Cottage was very well equipped....had absolutely everything! The beds were lovely and comfortable and the showers in both bathrooms were excellent. Great WiFi connection too! Have to give a special mention to the welcome pack - very enjoyable and much appreciated. We had a wonderful week in portknockie and will certainly come back to this cottage! Thank you!!

We had a wonderful stay at slaters over hogmany - definitely a highlight was hearing the bagpipes being played outside on the street behind us and joining in with their celebrations.. A warm welcome from the village - we shall definitely return one day.

Fantastic cottage a few moments walk away from the beach/harbour. The cottage is beautifully decorated, well equipped, dog friendly, child friendly and very spacious. It has everything you need to enjoy your stay. The owners left a wonderful welcome pack tailored to our booking and it was very much appreciated and a thoughtful thing to do. Loved our visit and hopefully manage back for another stay soon! Ps - we used the Tesco delivery service which came in very handy too!

Slaters was a perfect cottage for our 3 generations family holiday & with it being toddler friendly we as Grandparents could totally 'chill'!! Everything about this cottage, its layout, its contents , situation & communication from Mark, the owner were better than 1st class. Welcome pack was ever so tasty ...included Butteries& Haribo!!? Great size kitchen & fridge. Bedrooms big, Beds V comfortable , stair gate& cot were provided also. Even provided wetsuits , buckets& spades!! A lot of thought & Care has been taken in making Slaters into a 'home from home'. It is a 2 minute walk to the harbour, beautiful cliff walks in both directions. A scenic walk along the coast to Cullen. Lots of other villages to visit. , beautiful beaches, delicious ice cream & Tescos & Lidl in Buckie for all your needs . We only discovered Portknockie Fish& Chips on our last night!! WOW!! Dont swither about booking ....just do it ...& go & ENJOY!!

Slater's is first class family holiday accommodation, a real home from home.. It is clean, comfortable and equipped to a high standard It is a fabulous base to explore a stunning part of the country or just to relax. Mark met us at the property and was very friendly and helpful. He even, very kindly, unpacked our Tesco's order which had arrived an hour early. My husband and son took advantage of the free session with the Cullen sea school run by Mark's son and had a great hour kayaking and paddle boarding. We had a wonderful holiday at Slater's and would wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone.

Slaters was very comfortable and well equipped (there were even beach toys and a small selection of wetsuits for the kids! ). Portknockie is beautiful, the kids loved the safe open air paddling pool at the harbour. We saw dolphins in Portknockie itself, seals just along the coast in Portgordon, and ospreys in Spey Bay. We would definitely visit again.

Absolutely beautiful Cottage in a stunning location.. Everything you needed was provided including an extremely generous welcome pack (thank you Mark). Cannot fault anything about the Cottage - it was perfect. Enjoyed fish & chips from the award winning fish & chip shop - beautiful. A ten minute gentle stroll takes you to the harbour & bow fiddle rock - soooo picturesque. We saw dolphins there and an amazing sunset. A fabulous base to explore the beautiful villages & coastline.

We had a fantastic week away at Slater's cottage. We enjoyed exploring the area and the weather was very good to us. The cottage was the best we've ever stayed in. It had absolutely everything we needed. The extra benefits of a log burner, coffee machine and extra toys for the boys to amuse themselves with was incredible, including a Playstation and games. The cottage was cosy, beds were very comfy and there was loads of hot water for showers. The boys loved counting the lovehearts in the house. It's the wee things that matter most. The chippy is genuinely the best we've ever had. It was hard work tearing ourselves away from the cosy and comfy cottage of a morning but Moray and Aberdeenshire are worth exploring. Amazing beaches and lovely villages to explore. Plenty of ice-cream shops too. We'd love to visit again soon. We thoroughly enjoyed our break. Many thanks to the owner, Mark who couldn't have been more accommodating.

The cottage is extremely well equipped and tastefully decorated. It is warm and welcoming - with an extremely generous welcome pack - situated in a central location in the village, handy for the pub, chip shop, and shop/PO. I stayed for a week with my sons and our elderly springer spaniel. We would definitely come back to Slaters as it is one of the best self catering cottages we have stayed in, in this area.

A lovely house and location for me and my 2 grown up daughters. Beautifully presented and spacious - the house was perfect for the 3 of us and would easily cope with more people. The wood burning stove was a delight and the kitchen was easy to use (great coffee machine!). Mark was fantastic - lovely, unexpected welcome pack of breakfast items and goodies on arrival and he even re-confirmed our boat trip as there was patchy mobile signal in the village. A charming, friendly owner. The location is outstanding .... beautiful beach walks, and the boat trip on Gemini Explorer from nearby Buckie is highly recommended. The pod of dolphins we saw was beautiful :)

The house is beautifully finished , spacious and situated a minutes walk from the coast. The children loved the choice of bedrooms and the layout of the cottage. We had everything we required for the week, including the owner's help when required. Very friendly and approachable. The coastline is stunning and Portknockie is a good base for access to other beautiful places, Cullen, situated a mile up the coast (it's better to walk along the coast from Portknockie than drive),and Lossiemouth, which had one of the nicest beaches I have visited. It is quiet in Portknockie, but there is plenty to see and do. Everyone is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The local chip shop is as good as it gets. This was our first trip to Scotland, but won't be our last. Overall,Slaters cottage and the entire holiday exceeded our expectations. We shall definitely be returning and the kids loved it.

The house has been furnished with an eye to detail and provides everything a holidaymaker could wish.. It is very comfortable, plenty of space, and has a welcoming feel. The bay and beach are beautiful and the coastal paths to both Buckie and Cullen are worth walking. Portknockie is an excellent base from which to tour the area. It is within easy reach of Elgin, the nearest big town, as well as the picturesque villages along the Moray coastline. The local fish and chip shop deserves its award winning status. There are two pubs in the village, both within a minute’s walk of the cottage, but only one does food. Previous occupants of the cottage have praised the Victoria Hotel but we found it both unfriendly and rude. The Seafield Inn next door is basic but friendly. On the road to Cullen, the Cullen Bay Hotel provided good food and an excellent place from which to view the dolphins frolicking in the bay (the hotel provides binoculars!). Cullen also has an Indian and a Chinese takeaway, useful at the end of a full sightseeing day. We would highly recommend the cottage.

The cottage is well equipped in all respects. The layout is great for larger / extended families. Portknockie has everything a family needs for a great seaside holiday - beautiful beach, interesting cliff path and rocks, and an excellent fish and chip shop! Also lots of very interesting things to do - marine aquarium in Macduff is fantastic. The cottage is in a very quiet location and has a private patio with outside drying facilities. We had a great holiday.

Booked for a group of guys working on a nearby site. This property was ideal for our guys, good location and great price. Communication and help when required from the owner couldn't have been better. If we are working in the area again Slater's Cottage will definitely be the first place we try for accommodation!
