A cosy, yet spacious, and well appointed cottage in a stunning and tranquil location.. The owners put in many thoughtful touches, particularly for our late evening arrival. The views from the master bedroom are the best I have ever experienced!
The only minor issue (which is so insignificant it's only worth mentioning as its the ONLY thing between this cottage and absolute perfection) is that the fixed shower head is not well aligned so that most of the water just goes straight across the cubicle and down the wall.
That being said, we absolutely adored our stay here and miss it already. We'll definitely be coming back to Syke, and we'll be sure to try for this cottage again too!

Fantastic cottage in a beautiful location.. Golden Eagles sighted from the cottage. Very well equipped for self catering. Always warm and cozy after a cold day out walking.
We would definitely recommend and would love a return visit. Thank you Catriona and Peter for a wonderful week we will all remember for a very long time.

We had a great stay at Ridge End Cottage and found it very comfortable and cosy.. The kitchen is well equipped and spotlessly clean. We had fresh local eggs and a tea, coffee, milk supply to get us started.
Catriona and Peter also went the extra mile and came to our rescue one evening when the DVD player would no longer work bringing their own DVD player as a replacement. We could not ask for better customer service.
The weather gods smiled on us and we had fine, unseasonably warm conditions to explore this stunning island. Thank you and we would highly recommend a stay at Ridge End Cottage to explore this beautiful part of Skye.

The cottage at Ridge End is just a wonderful little escape.. The cottage is exceptional. It has more than anything you will need for your stay - the kitchen is stocked like a full kitchen - not just a few little broken utensils and mis-matched plates like you often get at rental homes, oodles of towels and blankets, and comfortable beds & furniture. The views are stunning and the location at the end of the Trotternish is a great starting point to see most of what’s what on Skye while still being away from it all - and any drive you do to get to things is breathtaking and part of the fun. Catriona was just lovely and always available with answers to questions. To sum it up: we booked 7 days and extended to 10 we loved it so much.

We Stayed at Ridge End Cottage in November, Even though the weather was very wet and windy at times we were very warm and cosy.. The Cottage was superb, very clean with lovely furnishings
and the kitchen has all the facilities you could want. The tv and internet were excellent for the long winter evenings. The views from the cottage are gorgeous. The bedrooms are lovely with very comfy beds and nice warm Quilts. The log fire was nice on the windy evenings and the owners provided a nice amount of logs for our first evening and also provided us with some lovely fudge which was a nice touch. Overall one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in. We hope to be back in the near future.

The owners are helpful and very friendly.. We cannot fault the cottage in any way. It was very clean, tidy and comfortable and was perfect or us. The more remote a cottage is, the more we like it, so for us, the location was perfect.

The cottage is perfect! Location, very secluded, well equipped and cosy. We loved the layout of it, definitively unique. A short walk to the coast, and a short drive to amnenites. The owners were very helpful, and regularly contacted me to make sure we were comfortable. We had a wonderful week, thank you!

Absolutely brilliant! Our favourite place to stay hands down. We had 2 adults and 4 kids and it was perfect. Well equipped, clean, great location. You almost wanted the bad weather as an excuse to nest inside and enjoy. Loved it.

The cottage was super clean and cosy.. The location is perfect for exploring the Isle of Skye throughout. We had a very peaceful and relaxing stay. The owners were very helpful and were prepared to go out of their way to help us (we were in need to european socket adapters). Would recommend to stay at this cottage for anyone.

Owners were lovely.. I ended up calling them twice (before the trip to arrange key pickup as we were potentially arriving late and another time to check how to turn the heating on which was our own fault as we’d accidentally knocked it off!) and both times, they were more than happy to help and really warm and friendly. Lovely little touches in the cottage. Stunning location. Warm and cosy.

This is an absolutely brilliant cottage and our stay at Skye was amazing, this cottage being one of the reasons.. It's so well maintained and all the modern amenities are present in a perfect scottish setting. The small bedroom in the attic space is so spacious, this was our favourite sleeping space on our entire holiday in Scotland. Highly recommend this place and the hostess.

A perfect retreat away from the hustle and bustle of life, Ridge End Cottage is immaculately clean and extremely welcoming. It really is a home from home set in stunning countryside and offers a great base from which to explore the Isle of Skye. We never return to places we've been before, as there is so much of the world to see; however, in this case we will be making an exception.

Spacious cottage with amazing views in every direction.. Six of us stayed here, four adults and two children, plenty of room for all without feeling on top of each other. Woodburner in the open plan living room/dining/kitchen. Mezzanine bedroom (big enough for double bed plus sofas!) above living room had superb views over the rural countryside, mountains in the distance. Two other large bedrooms (one double, other twin) and a modern bathroom. This is the perfect base to enjoy peace and tranquillity. Evening strolls at Duntulm castle ruins as the sun disappears, Uig coastal village for real ale and exploring the fairy glens, or hiking the magestic Storr are not to be missed. I wish I lived closer to this beautiful part of the country. Highly recommend a stay here.

The property was wonderful. The view, especially from the mezzanine bedroom was stunning. The house was very cosy and had lots of hot water. My little two year old loved the stairs and the high chair. Would highly recommend the cottage and the location was excellent, especially for keen walkers and lovers of good coffee. The single track cafe is literally 2mins away with coffee and cake to die for.

This was a fantastic break in a fantastic location, the cottage was an easy distance from lots of Skye's best views and walks. The best thing was coming in from a long windy walk and stoking up the log burner, thanks for a lovely stay. I would definitely return.

February 2015
The layout of the house is really great. On the mezzanine we could see the stars and the northern lights through the top windows which was a great experience. The location is breathtaking, the house is very well equipped and has some great features such as the power shower and the woodburner.
Highly recommended

I picked this cottage originally as it was near to the Quraing which is one of my favourite places on Skye.
The cottage is really well fitted out. We used the top mezzanine which allowed us to see the northern lights from the top windows over the top of the island.
There is a local shop a little drive away, but noting really else which means planning ahead and cooking at the cottage - the facilities are great for this so no issue!
There are some great features of the cottage - the woodburner is really good and the power shower is superb after a long day on the hills.
Overall, a great cottage in a very scenic location. Wish we'd stayed longer!!!

Stayed at Ridge End Cottage for 2 weeks in August 2014. The house is situated in the North of Skye on the Trotternish Peninsula, very rural but stunningly beautiful. The house comprises of 2 ground floor bedrooms (one a double, the other with 2 singles), a ground floor shower and toilet, and a through lounge / kitchen / diner. On the first floor is a mezzanine bedroom with a double bed and a child's cot. There is a dishwasher, a washing machine, good sized oven and fridge freezer, television with Sky and wi fi connection. Also in the lounge is a woodburner, ideal if the weather is cool or damp. The house was immaculately clean and tidy, and our bed linen and towels were changed after the first week. The views from this cottage were amazing, the Quiraing from the back of the house, the Isles of Lewis and Harris from the front and all around grren fields, hills and sheep. The house is wonderfully placed for walking - the Quiraing, the Old Man of Storr, the dinosaur beach at Staffin, Duntulm Castle to name just a few. It also has easy access to the Skye Museum of Island Life, the Museum at Staffin and the Flora MacDonald monument. All in all we spent a fantastic fortnight in Ridge End and the Isle of Skye. Would suggest that although the house can accommodate 6 people, 4 may be a more comfortable number, but apart from that thoroughly recommended! Should also mention that Lorraine who looks after the house lives just along the road, and she's lovlely!

The cottage was very remote, which is exactly what we wanted. The setting and views were superb. The cottage is very cosy, well decorated and furnished, and a real home from home. The Isle of Skye is beautiful with many activities and places to visit.

Ridge End Cottage is wonderfully located at the northern tip of the Trotternish Peninsula on Skye. Fifteen minutes into Staffin for light shopping, newspapers, and excellent Internet services at Columba 1400. 40 minutes into Portree. The interior of the cottage is clean and very comfortable and the neighbors around the cottage are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The only (very slight) downside was that the cottage was not as well-equipped as many that we have rented. But we had an excellent two weeks there and hope to be able to return.

Getting away from things and relaxing. The scenery of Conista and the Trotternish was spectacular. There are some amazing walks close to the cottage. We really didn't want to leave at the end of our week away. Although the weather was a little unpredicatble it didn't stop us doing the things we had intended to do.

Recommended location to get away from it all. Extremely calm with great views. Access to Uig and Portree shops within 30mins. Well-presented cottage with all self-catering necessities for a family of four. Kids loved the wildlife, countryside, including basking sharks, otters, seals, dolphins all easily spotted within a week in summer. Hebrides clearly visible from upper bedroom.

The cottage and the surroundings were beautiful. A lot of thought had gone into the needs of holidaymakers to ensure they have a good stay. Whilst we went in June I believe the cottage would be just as welcoming at any time of year. The wood-burner made it even more homely.

We met some friends from Liverpool area here in the north of Skye. We didn't expect such a great location. And the "real"house is much better than the pictures on the homepage does show! But you should like remote areas! The next supermarket is far away - but what you get instead is a place of peace and tranquility. And overall the house is a good base for some beautiful hikes & places like the Old Man of Storr, the Quairing, coast & waterfalls!
One negative thing: The combined living/dining-room was a bit too small for 4 adults & 1 child.
Rating: We would definately come back!!

Thought the property was well kitted out. A super kitchen with gas cooker, fridge freezer, dish washer and washing machine. A bathroom with a great shower that has multiple heads. Lovely master bedroom with staircase which leads up to it. We particularly like the wood burning stove, which we had on most nights.

A warm and cosy cottage and incredible scenery. Even though the cottage is isolated, which we prefer, you could still easily travel to visit elsewhere. Enjoyed the close encounters on the road with the numerous sheep and inquisitive highland cattle. Were even lucky enough to see a sea eagle at close quarters on one of the boat trips from Portree.

March 2011
Absolutely loved the cottage, it was very modern and clean. A great place to totally unwind! We had a great 3 nights enjoying the stunning scenery. The cottage is lovely and warm which was appreciated during our stay in March. On the down side we felt that it was not quite finished. There was only 2 of us so we had ample space but felt that 6 people would struggle with the amount of seating in the living area. The cottage also does not have hanging space - the bedrooms are big so why not at least one wardrobe? A couple more chairs, a wardrobe, some coat hooks in the porch and a few more finishing touches (Bedside light in twin room?) would make the cottage perfect. Also be warned that the info says that the local Flodigarry Hotel is approx 2 miles - it is actually over 3 miles! Not much difference if you drive there but quite a lot more if you walk there and back!

April 2010
The tranquility and peacefulness of the location of the cottage. This was our first time on the Isle of Skye and we had amazing weather with not a 'midgie' in site. The most amazing walk we did was to the top of the Old Man of Storr no visitor to the island should miss this! The cottage was much better than we expected it was like something from a magazine, very modern comfortable and clean with everything you need. As it was April it was lambing season with a new lamb appearing in the flock every morning, our 11 yr old daughter was amazed.

The service we received was fantastic.
The cottage had everything you would want and more, three beautiful bedrooms, a modern bathroom and kitchen living room. The whole cottage was everything we wanted. After a day walking we would go back light the fire and enjoy an evening in or go out to a local hotel to eat.
The location is fantastic if you want a quiet relaxed holiday in a beautiful location with dramatic landscapes. You do have to be prepared with your supplies but the cottage is well worth the effort.
This cottage has been put together with thought and attention to detail and is well worth a visit.

The property was fantastic - so fantastic we want to go again next year. It was perfect, it really should have 5 tourist board stars. The cottage is really well set out, very very clean and all appliances top quality. The bed was comfortable. The fire was set up and ready to be lit which helped and the information pack was great. In truth the cottage was warm and cosy so you did not need the fire, we just enjoyed sitting in front of it! We had a great holiday in a fantastic location in a beautiful cottage.
Thank you
