As a couple planning there wedding we wanted to try out some venues that will accommodate immediate family and host a reception for 40 people. Having this in mind my fiance and I decided to fly over for a weekend and try out the property.
We were welcomed with 12 scones with cream and jam! Just what we needed after a long day of traveling. The lovely hosts contacted us at the time arranged prior to arriving and visited us, they showed us around the property, taught us how to light the fire and very kindly offered us to help ourselves to condiments - this saved us money and time!
The property itself is well contained, warm, clean and welcoming. It's full of the country vibe! The towels are clean and good quality. I would recommend this property to couple's and families.
The hosts were absolutely fantastic and gave us all lots of local information, I would recommend climbing Slieve Na Mon, take a picnic and a good camera as the views are undescribable. If you want to get involved with the locals my fiance would recommend a pint of Guinness in the Ormand Stores, great traditional Irish pub!
Now as we went to make an important decision for our wedding day, we want a property that will hold 9 people and enough space for 40 people for a sit down meal, the hosts came back to us on another day and talked through with us the space and measured the seating plan. The grounds will be great for photos, it's well looked after and extremely pretty. The hosts have also given us information of local Parrish's and business that will help us to enjoy our special day.
We have booked our special day here for June 2020 and extremely excited to going back.

This property is not suitable for young children, there are to many of the owners valuable Waterford crystal trophies around.
It states there are two showers, you are informed by the owner when you arrive you can only use one at a time.(it trips the electrics)
There are damp marks in two of the bedrooms.
The fridge freezer and cupboards are full of food .
The drains smell and got worse during the week.
There were medicines left in the single bedroom (diazepam) these had the owners name on them.

The owner, Pat Murphy, is a great guy and really helped us to enjoy a brilliant week.. The house is beautifully located in lovely grounds and the property included many items and disposables that you would not normally expect to find in a holiday let.

My stay at Maifield with my family was a lovely and relaxed experience.. Maifield was a beautiful, peaceful, comfortable and interesting home, with lots of space. It really was a home from home with all the facilities you would ever need. It was set amongst beautiful countryside, complete with stables, where we were lucky enough to witness the birth of a foal during our stay. Pat, the owner, was a great host. He greeted us at the property on arrival and showed us all around. We had access to everything at the property. Nothing was too much trouble for Pat, he was always very helpful. We loved spending time having a chat with Pat over a nice cup of tea. His partner, also called Pat, was a lovely lady who welcomed us to Maifield with delicious fruit scones on our arrival. They were a lovely couple who made us all feel extremely welcome. We all felt very much part of the family while we stayed there, and it was an absolute pleasure.
The surrounding countryside was exquisite, and we enjoyed many country walks. The local village was about a mile down the road, with a shop and also an excellent bakery, with freshly made home baked bread and cakes every day.
I would thoroughly recommend a stay at Maifield. Staying at Maifield was just wonderful, and I cannot wait to return for another holiday.

We spent a week in Maifield House.. All the family really enjoyed it. It was very relaxing and comfortable. Pat, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. He pointed out a few places of interest that weren't on the map. His partner, also called Pat, arrived on our first day with lovely homemade scones and brown bread, which we all enjoyed. Definitely a place to go back to. So for us its a thumbs up for Maifield House. Bernard Read.

A spacious comfortable property with very welcoming hosts.. An ideal location to explore Tipperary, Kilkenny and Waterford. Lots to do within easy driving distance, pottery and glass, golf, greenway, narrow gauge railway, go-karting and airsoft shooting range, to mention but a few. Kilkenny and Waterford are great for shopping and steeped in history. Something for everyone.
