With a small range of amenities, it also offers five lochs, some known for their sailing and fishing. Lochmaben is also home to some fascinating castle ruins and an 18-hole golf course, the 53-mile long Annandale Way walking path runs through the village. From here you can visit the well-appointed town of Lockerbie, also home to a golf course. The market town of Dumfries is just seven miles away and ensures an excellent day out with its stunning architecture, things to do and the picturesque River Nith running through it.
