Ground yourself in the extraordinary landscapes of Snowdonia at this secluded cottage idyll set at the foot of Cadair Iris mountain on a farmland estate.

Spend your days voyaging through the glorious grounds – there’s fishing on the lakes and riverside walks on your doorstep. And, of course, there’s the footpaths leading to the mighty Cadair Iris, the highest mountain in Southern Snowdonia. Don your hiking boots to discover its glacial lakes and lofty viewpoints alive in folklore tales of giants, dragons, and heroes.

When it’s time to drop back down to earth and meet the locals, the neighbouring village of Dorgellau (a six-minute drive away) is a fine place to start with its local inns for hearty grub and a warm welcome.

Then all that’s left to do is head back home to hunker down beside that magnificent inglenook fireplace on winter nights – the spot to toast the day with a glass of red and curl up with a film. And on long summer evenings, fling open the French doors and head out into the private garden for an evening of catch-ups and storytelling beneath a carpet of stars. This is dark sky reserve territory, folks – go catch yourself a shooting star.
