Tucked away in the unspoilt Welsh countryside, this comfortable cottage is a haven for those who like the quieter side of life. Inside, the home combines the traditional and the modern with original features dating back to 1748, plenty of mod-cons (including underfloor heating on the ground floor), and most importantly – sink-in leather couches – a welcome sight at the end of a long ramble through the Brecon Beacons.
Open up the glass patio doors to reveal a sun-trap garden set above the Nantgwyn River – this is where we imagine you’ll spend most of your time, sipping Pimm’s and listening to the gentle trickle of the water. If you have the little ones in tow, arrange a visit to feed the animals in the nearby farm or don your hiking boots and embark on the Wye Valley Walk. Spend afternoons pottering around Builth Wells, a quaint market town just a five-minute drive away, before ending the day curled up in front of the wood-burning stove with a good book and cup of tea in hand.
