When we say you’re footsteps from the beach here, we mean it. A stone staircase leads directly from this home to the soft sand of Smuggler’s Bay, so you’ve got beach days at your fingertips. Plus, you’re in the charming village of Beadnell, where there’s a convenience store, cosy pub and a bistro for a more formal dinner.

The home itself is like the beach houses of New England, with an atrium-style glass front showing off that direct sea view. The outdoors is set up to enjoy the sound of the waves with a hammock, outdoor dining and seating on the balcony too. There are two living areas to choose from inside – the light-filled lounge on the first floor leading to the balcony, or the leather seats in the open-plan living area downstairs. The dining area opens out onto the terrace and the kitchen has everything you need for self-catering. We love the decor inside, rich dark wood and blue to reflect your seaside locale.

*This home has direct access to the beach but it is via a set of stairs so may not be suitable for those with limited mobility
*The sea comes all the way up to the steps at high tide, so the sand is only accessible at low tide
*At capacity, one guest would be on a sofa bed in one of the bedrooms
*Although there is a convenience store within easy walking distance, guests here would benefit from having a car
*There is private parking for up to four cars
*The two zip-and-link king-size beds can be turned into twins on request
*Though there isn't a dedicated desk here, the dining table doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace
