Thick, regal red curtains, ornate plaster cornicing, and a wood-burning stove bring warmth into the vast lounge. A trio of original sash windows usher natural light into the bright dining space, where you can sip wine until the private chef arrives – courtesy of your host. Traditional elements meet modern charm in this gorgeous home, which echoes the local area quite well. This part of Edinburgh city centre’s east end is a lively area of bars, clubs, a thriving LGBTQ+ scene, comedy, and theatre for exciting nights out. Equally, you could spend peaceful days by the shore at Leith, a fifteen-minute bus ride away, or take a nine-minute walk to see exhibitions at the National Portrait Gallery.
