Area
The small village of Ballinaglera lies on the shores of Lough Allen in County Leitrim. The village is served by two shops and two pubs but the main attraction has to be the Lough, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which boasts a plentiful supply of fish year all year round and hosts many annual fishing contests. Ballinaglera has its own outdoor adventure centre with activities such as canoeing, kayaking and wind-surfing available.

Region
The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.

Ideal location for getting away from everyday life! The cabin was very clean and well presented. Plenty of space and a huge garden for kids to play. Direct access to Lough Allen was a gift for anglers, with pike and roach caught right from the access point. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitively be back!

Our family of 5 had a fab time at Ard Cuillean (two adults, 8, 12 and 18 year olds).. We were truly gobsmacked when we pulled in and realised we were literally waterfront. We knew we had a slip on the property, but didn't realise the waterfront was literally on our doorstep. The house itself looked smaller than expected from the exterior but we needn't have worried. It is huge inside thanks to generous high ceilings! And all of the bedrooms were amply sized. The beds were supremely comfy, and the house was stocked with far more than anywhere else we've ever stayed: enough pots, pans, and baking dishes to make meals for a large group easily; enough plates, glasses, cups, bowls and cutlery to host a banquet; electric kettle and washer and tumble dryer; and tons of DVDs and games for the kids. They loved the foosball/pool tables upstairs, too, in the family room. Even 24 hours without power thanks to a huge regional storm didn't dampen the stay. We loved it, enjoyed multiple outings on our canoe we brought, and will definitely be back. Just be prepared for a relaxed, remote experience or roadtrips to activities, because Drumshambo is a very small village with bare necessities, but not much going on. Can highly recommend the guided kayaking and paddleboarding on offer from the Drumshambo activity centre. Super affordable, and the leaders did a great job engaging with a group of about 20 participants and keeping an eye on everyone, entertaining, encouraging the little ones, and keeping everyone safe. And there's a great canal-side bike trail nearby that leads from Drumbshambo to a great wee pub in Battlebridge (about 9 miles roundtrip).

Spent five days with our children and grandchildren we had a fab time, the house is in a great area near the local village with a private entrance to the lake, which our grandchildren loved, we could not get them out of the water, also there was lots of bored games and a small pool table to keep them occupied in the evening after they sat around the fire pit toasting marshmallows .. Would not hesitate to recommend this hoilday home

The cottage and the place where great.. So peaceful and private in the middle of nature. Trees, lake and a great swing for kids, too. Safe place for kids and dogs, too. Lots of games for kids inside. The kitchen was well equipped. I'd only suggest a new grill and new cooker as it took half hour to boil water in a small pot, it was very slow. And more chairs for sitting outside:) Otherwise all great! We'll be coming back;)

Home from home.. We were amazed at the facilities. Everything was provided which meant we could get on with enjoying our holiday. I would like to thank Gerry Gallagher and his family for allowing people like us to taste a peace of heaven at Ardcuillean. My elderly parents came with us for the first part of our stay and loved it so much they stayed for a further 2 days! We definitely destressed, and the tourist information packs provided were spot on and enabled us to select what beautiful areas to visit and activities to get involved in. We still have plenty more to discover and will be looking to return in 2019 and Ardcuillean will be our first choice without a doubt. We so recommend Ardcuillean for couples, families of all ages and groups of friends.

Ardcuilliean is a great place to stay.. The location is quite, peaceful and tranquil. Yet its just 20 minutes drive from Lough Key Adventure Centre - a playground for kids young and old. The owners are very responsive and easy to contact and do all they can to ensure your stay is a pleasant one.
