Our family of 5 had a fab time at Ard Cuillean (two adults, 8, 12 and 18 year olds).. We were truly gobsmacked when we pulled in and realised we were literally waterfront. We knew we had a slip on the property, but didn't realise the waterfront was literally on our doorstep. The house itself looked smaller than expected from the exterior but we needn't have worried. It is huge inside thanks to generous high ceilings! And all of the bedrooms were amply sized. The beds were supremely comfy, and the house was stocked with far more than anywhere else we've ever stayed: enough pots, pans, and baking dishes to make meals for a large group easily; enough plates, glasses, cups, bowls and cutlery to host a banquet; electric kettle and washer and tumble dryer; and tons of DVDs and games for the kids. They loved the foosball/pool tables upstairs, too, in the family room. Even 24 hours without power thanks to a huge regional storm didn't dampen the stay. We loved it, enjoyed multiple outings on our canoe we brought, and will definitely be back. Just be prepared for a relaxed, remote experience or roadtrips to activities, because Drumshambo is a very small village with bare necessities, but not much going on. Can highly recommend the guided kayaking and paddleboarding on offer from the Drumshambo activity centre. Super affordable, and the leaders did a great job engaging with a group of about 20 participants and keeping an eye on everyone, entertaining, encouraging the little ones, and keeping everyone safe. And there's a great canal-side bike trail nearby that leads from Drumbshambo to a great wee pub in Battlebridge (about 9 miles roundtrip).
